german farm from 1744 that was the headquarters of George Washington for a few weeks in the fall of 1777.
pretty cool stuff.
best part about this house tour is it was free.
i did not take many pictures because:
we were late and i assumed there were no pictures allowed in the house.
we had an amazing tour guide who was an actual researcher and total history geek and was way better than the retired teacher volunteers that i've had in the past.
he knew more than the script and i was too busy learning.
i kept asking what i thought were valid questions or good comments but we realized that i was making an enemy in the group....
there was a woman who seemed a little dismayed that we were not impressed that she was related or a descendent of the daughter of the original farmers....
the fact that my questions didn't help her anc*stry.com research trip meant she didn't like me very much.
sorry lady, i wasn't scared by you and your dirty looks. it's a free tour, you'll have to go on it again.
by the time we left the group and my enemy we had no time to truly explore the acreage before our next appointment... and it was 100 degrees.
next time.
i really wanted to explore the period kitchen garden....... next time.
