I'm renaming my yard.
I'm naming it Egypt, the land of plagues.
plagues such as locust wasps
slugs
grubs
moss
rust
powdery mildew
broken glass (I'm convinced old bill used the backyard as a garbage bin for 50 years)
lavender died, grass died, holly hocks refuse to bloom, hardy mums died, ivy died, specialty ferns died... it's mind boggling. I can't compost the ground with any more money.
solution - if you can't beat them, join them.
if weeds grow then I will plant weeds.
morning glories in the hanging pots, forest ferns on the porch, hostas purloined from the abandoned house across the street (is splitting stealing??), irises that refuse to weeded out (not a big fan of the iris... or hostas), hens and chicks (love those).
if I have to live in the land of plagues then I will cover it with flowering weeds.
I cling to my clematis and the perfect trellis hizaazle made.
I can't get enough of these.
and of course my helper (notice all the dirt behind her... yep grub plague)
