Christmas at our house

note: i've been TERRIBLE about updating missionary letters.  sorry.  i have to transcribe them because for some reason when i 'copy/paste' it comes in this horrible white block and i can't stand it.  and sometimes the alignment is all off and i can't stand that either.  so i transcribe it myself and that means i have to carve out some time in my morning to do it. (such a martyr right?)  but i finally did two!
Kings and Nordlands are updated for December.

and here are my favorite things that i will stand and gaze at while drinking coffee out of my snowman mug.
garland!
i've always wanted real fir garland and this year i got some.
i failed to remember that garland looks stupid without bows so i had to  cut some strips from the burlap that i bought for a craft day.

i feel compelled to say that because in case anyone thinks this was at all intentional.  nope.
i'm sorry but i couldn't spend $11 on garland and $40 on outside bows.
it just isn't right.

boris is santa this year
i love Christmas cards and will always display them in some tacky manner somewhere.
i don't care what pottery barn says.
and i've been too busy to obsess over my crooked stockings.
and my favorite.  p's tree.
in general my house looks like a kiddie classroom decorated for a Christmas party (i didn't take pictures of that) but when p showed me all the stockings i've ever owned carefully put on all the knobs she could reach i couldn't take them down.
she was so proud.
she thought it was so beautiful.
our nativity is cut out paper colored in Sunday School.
our window clings don't make sense.
and i don't have a photo tour of our crazy Christmas because i've been too busy mastering a glue gun to take straight pictures let alone pretend pretty ones.
so ridiculous Christmas it is.  maybe next year i'll have yarn pom pom garlands ( i hope so, i should start making them now) and more burlap and Christmas cards that aren't strung on fishing line....
but i will have
my Saviour.
and that's what matters.
and enjoying p is more important than pretty.
even if that means i now have mickey mouse santa ink stamps all over my shins because while i was typing this i had an amateur tattoo artist under the table. (thanks jen)

and for something completely different..... a nerd alert:
i have gone to see the hobbit because i am indeed a tolkein fan and i was really excited to see it.
i am a nerd.
i returned home from the hobbit and changed clothes.  i then put all clothes that touched any theater fabric into the dryer on high heat, extra long cycle, just in case any creepy crawly uninvited parasitic guests decided to hop a ride to my home.
i am paranoid.
i am a paranoid nerd.
note to self.... lysol the car.
