the beauty of a rose

"the flowers appear on the earth, the time of the singing of birds is come..." Song of Solomon 2:12

my free cycle rose bloomed.
this is the one given to me by a woman very into real roses.
i'm not that picky.

she was very sure to tell me that this was a true rose, a lancaster rose, from the kind of british 'war of the roses' rose.

i thought those roses were white and red, anyway...

i didn't think it would flower (the lady said it wouldn't) because it was a root when i planted it after the wasp debacle.
but it did - yay.

the blooms lived for a day a piece.  that's it, a day.

i'll get some hybrids and look at my purple meadow sage.
