we spent the evening of the fourth at a picnic straight from a movie about the south.
a barbecue at the horse farm home of a retired marine.
yep, it was pretty cool.
the tire swing was someone's favorite.
then the horses.
below is right before the national anthem.
at the height of the song as the flag turned towards the barn these and other horses ran up to the fence all of the sudden and stood as if at attention.
afterwards taps was played for the fallen brother of our host and for all fallen servicemen.
when i turned around this horse was standing as under the flag.
it was beautiful.
then it was back to the swing.
and horses.
he tried to pretend he wasn't going to be excited. it was an epic fail. he grinned from ear to ear.
we love the fourth.
