high end and this family don't often mix but i'm up for a free field trip even at a high end food store..
or maybe especially at a high end food store.
it was fun and the two staff who held the event were great. we bumped into some friends. and can you get any cuter than a bunch of 4 year old and unders lined up at counters amazed by pizza ovens and dead fish on ice?
(take a guess which child with a line leader complex asked the most questions.)

while we were there i decided to buy some grape fruit. this store has small (or short) carts and about all that would fit in was our coats and some grape fruit. this is a good thing as we're not very 'high end' as it were.
so we check out and miss conversation starts talking to a mother and child behind us. i move our cart to the end of the register to make way for these random acquaintances and i start to collect my wallet together.
all of the sudden i see the wheels of my cart fly past my face and with hands still full of quarters, wallets and receipts i see a very shocked conversationalist underneath our cart and the entire contents of my purse spread all over the floor of a very high end grocery store with very high end customers ( i assume) looking on.
in true p fashion the first thing she said was 'it's not broken mom, the cart's not broken'.
before i could even think the cashier manager and cart girl were by our side picking up my child and handing me my purse contents while asking if she was okay. apparently they had pushed people out of the way like a punt returner to get to us.
in true sympathetic fashion i could only respond that we now know the real life consequence of hoisting oneself on the back of a short grocery buggy but i am very very grateful that a little blond head i love didn't smack against high end concrete.
we then waited for the manager to tell them that we were indeed were not hurt and we got a whole bunch of stickers and smiles and what not.
i don't think they'll forget the day we came to visit very soon.
