a walking afternoon

if a person wants free trinkets and unprecedented access to areas make sure to invite p (you'll have to bring me too).
this child was gifted a west african inspired clothes pin doll by a gullah-geechee poet,
5 palmetto flowers,
a balloon,
and access to the porch of one of the multi-million dollar charleston homes.
it's astounding.
i was most flabbergasted by the sweet grass basket makers, notorious for their sour and rather unfriendly attitudes.
not only did they let p participate in some basket making but they gave her something.
i've been visiting sweet grass basket makers since birth and i dont' think i was ever even given a hello.
will she ever realize how spoiled she is... i often wonder.
