mother of the year - how to switch hair stylists

i don't get my hair cut very often.
i went over a year without a hair cut once and one day i walked into a salon in town and asked them to chop my hair from my mid back the the nape of my neck... anyone would do.
i guess it wasn't very nice of me to do that to someone.
so a nice young girl cut my hair.
determined to keep a hair cutting routine, in six months i returned.
she did okay.
then i had to attend a wedding.  i hate doing my hair for events.
i scheduled my appointment for a hairdo.
instructions: loose curls, don't want to look like a bridesmaid.
i didn't look like a bridesmaid but the curls on the rear of my head resembled someone on their way to jr. prom.
i wasn't extremely happy.
what made it worse was i was sitting watching the stylist at the next chair do a really edgy style on her client.
that is my hair stylist.... how do i get her?
i've only seen nice girl twice, but how do i switch to her chair neighbor???
ick.  what do you do?
avoid it all together and let an australian girl you meet in a library cut your hair six months later.
australian girl moves to california.  fuey.
introduce small blond child into the story.
until recently i had cut her hair.  and then the wiggling became too much.
light bulb.
double appointments.
p with nice girl with eh style, me with edgy girl with style i liked.
blatantly using your child to passive aggressively switch hair stylist - mother of the year.

side note:
edgy stylist girl and i were discussing not washing your hair every day (which is good for your hair).
when using dry shampoo or corn starch apply before your hair is greasy... i.e. if you know your hair will need help the next day, apply the night before.
why did i never think of that?
genius.
this granola girl prefers corn starch baby powder but that's because it's much cheaper than the r*dken stuff that edgy stylist girl recommends.
