otherwise titled: to yogurt or not to yogurt.
i've been debating for quite a while....
i've been debating for quite a while....
should i make my own yogurt.
is it really cheaper?
i have to add vanilla and sugar every day.
i have to make my own vanilla because of the alcohol. wait, i have to do that already because of my creamer. that one doesn't count so much.
so i tried it.
i admit the whole time my mantra was 'what in the world am i doing.'
it you think about it a gallon of milk is about the same price of d*nn*n all natural yogurt.
(ch*b*ni is more.)
i love ch*b*ni. i didn't know it until i recently bought some to make a greek dip recipe.
so i tried it and a little more than a half gallon of milk makes the same amount as the big tubs of yogurt. (well drained because i like mine well drained).
opinions... i like the taste of ch*b*ni better but the homemade stuff is very good though milder.
there is time involved because you have to watch the temperatures.
it was easy because i used the jars in a cooler method.
i'm still on the fence.
is it worth it considering the time?
previously i had plenty of time and basically a buy one get one savings is worth it.
is it worth it considering taste??
you can get used to anything.

i'm going to try another batch with more ch*b*ni as a starter. i prefer a stronger flavor ( i eat it plain sometimes... this is serious business). I guess we'll see.
i never expected to be so on the fence about it. completely opposite of my other homemade experiences.
homemade bread - love it.
homemade coffee creamer - love it.
homemade laundry detergent - love it. (my mother even likes it - shock upon shock)
homemade dish soap - love it.
homemade counter spray - love it.
homemade floor and bathroom cleaners - love it.
homemade shampoos and conditioners - love it.
but all of these work great and and take ten minutes or less. oh the indecision!
fortunately a few days later we started pre-k and that pushed me off of the fence in a definite direction.
because i have been adamant regarding pre-school and the non attendance of it p is stuck somewhere between pre-school and pre-k so for the first month i'm winging it.
things i'd rather do than lesson plan:
clean my bathroom.
scrub my toilet with a tooth brush.
scrub my shower with a tooth brush.
scrub my bathroom and kitchen floor with a tooth brush.
hopefully when the all planned out for you lessons start it will be much more enjoyable.
(i knew i'd hate lesson planning and i totally splurged for the planned out for you stuff)
if not, then we will be spending a lot a lot of money on kindergarten.
but back to yogurt.... me lesson planning means store bought it is. don't have the time to waste on $2 saved.

note: if someone ever helps you clean at your house and you watch them shake the bottle before they use it they might make their own cleaning products.
shake then use. it becomes a habit.
