no interest in being a ballerina

we went to,
a ballet.
a cinderella ballet.
the sets were beautiful.
the costumes were mostly beautiful.
i admit that i missed a costume reference to spring summer autumn and winter sprites.
i guess when you're indoctrinated with disney mice and bippity boppity boo the meaning behind a bunch of dancing fairies dressing cinderella for the ball is completely lost on you.
p liked it.  but i think she would rather have gone to lunch.
i think this because the entire event was punctuated by 1,000 references to hunger.
she did like some parts.
the two comedic step sisters (who were very funny).
the silly man (the court jester).
every dance scene i didn't expect her to like.
i loved it because i think the athleticism in ballet is amazing.
i'm actually glad she wasn't enthralled because i have zero plans in enrolling her in ballet.
i'm actually skipping library story time this week because a ballet teacher is coming in and i don't want her wanting to take lessons.
(mother. of. the. year.)
the most memorable parts for me (besides trying 3 parking garages before finding an open one and parking in what seemed like a motorcycle space) were:
two ballet couples colliding in a ballroom scene.  they played it off so well that it almost didn't look out of place except it was funny in a non comedic dance.  i was so confused about that part that started looking at the dancers expressions and i saw one ticked anorexic looking ballerina shooting laser beams and daggers from her eyes.
my second favorite part was the worst dancer at the ballet.  this man was as graceful as mr. magoo.  all angles and no flow... but he had the most enormous grin on his face.  he gave it his all and you could tell.  i've never seen someone so happy to be in tights.  his ballerina partners' face looked a little more like arsenic and vinegar.  he might have been my favorite.
you go mr. magoo.
there were also some pretty amazing solo acts that i like but i'll refrain from comment as i've never been to the ballet before and i'm well aware that my city's ballet company isn't exactly the epitome of the ballet scene.  but i thought they did a good job.
especially mr. magoo.
