fall away

warning: many many pictures.  if you don't care about the woods around the north of pennsylvania or my extended family... you might bore quickly.
mornings are always so beautiful

shopping at the local-ish mennonite store.
i purchased my favorite apron to date in this store.  it's a little big but i'm in love.

pumpkin picking! because there is always room on my porch for more pumpkins.

he saw me take his picture...
then..
he got..
embarrassed.

pumpkin loot (paid for, not really looted)

and now, the hunt for rock owegawilawanatawnee.
up the mountain we went.  through woods.  next to cliffs.
we were very high and the cliff was very near the side of the car.....
yes, i almost hyperventilated.  people... logging road = no guard rail.
the top and still no rock owegawilawanatawnee.
but it was beautiful.
even without the leaves on the trees.
the winds stripped some mountains completely of autumn leaves while the side of another mountain would still be full of leaf majesty.  i love the red fern things going on there.
family photo.  complete with sun squint.
nice friend photo.
friend photo invaded by small blond conqueror.

the search continues.
still skunked...
when hizazzle spots something through the trees.
tah-dah. rock owegawilawanatawnee.
so we start to climb it but we find out there are about five giant boulders in the woods... which one is it.

we search and think.
and we settle on the second one in.
camp owegawilawanatawner's

except on further thought we're not sure we're on the right rock.
wasted group shot.
maybe this one??

not this one but we climbed it anyway.
help mommy p.
well, maybe it is the first one.

yep, it was the first one.  the topography was the deciding factor.  the other ones were treacherous to walk on (leaves hiding ankle breaking crevices etc.  we didn't remember that of rock owegawilawanatawnee).  this one had a nice safe easy to manage top.
group shot redo.
the real rock owegawilawanatawnee.
she's not sure why the grown ups are so excited.
moving on.

daddy explaining how it works.
rainbow chasing.

soccer... kind of.
mountain pies.
church.
some game that only p knew.
'soccer'
not happy that i suggested he help carve pumpkins (specifically p's pumpkin).
you can see the guilt settling in.  'man' or 'darn it' might be appropriate captions.
awwwww, what a good daddy.

the end.
because it was so warm, and halloween was a week and a half away (then postponed) the pumpkins molded before i could get them lit.  sad but, there it is.
