watch what you say in a grocery store

one time in a grocery store, i passed a pretty yellow double begonia in a pot and i made a mistake.

i thought: "wouldn't that look nice in p's room by the window'.

except i didn't think it.  i said it out loud.

p: "mommy, are you getting me the flower?"

"mommy, is that my flower?"

"mommy, are you going to buy my flower?"

i managed to say: "well, next time when it's pay day"

and miraculously she said: "okay"

two weeks later going by the flower section in the same store...

"mommy, my flower"

"not now p"

"mommy, you said next time we came to the store we'd get my flower"

(it sounds so much cuter in her little voice)

i said: "you're right p, i did say that.... and you remembered"

the fact that the yellow double begonia was gone and in it's place were mini roses was completely lost on p.

she was entitled to a flower from the grocery store.

so the next thing i know i'm standing in the kitchen with a natria fly killer spray bottle pre-treating p's flower.

and that is why we now have a orange mini rose in the bedroom of a three year old.

on further consideration i thought i higher perch near the window was a safer spot than lower and right next to the window.
