huzbuzz and i have been discussing something for sometime.... it's been the elephant in the room and we've finally almost decided. we have to trim the fat..... cable wise. i've alluded to the fact before that we solely keep our direct tv for the dvr and tcm. i wasn't lying. otherwise it wouldn't phase us (and by us i mean me) to get rid of it. so, sitting in the living room discussing, the question has to be asked... are one channel and a dvr really worth $?
cut to me grabbing the remote, sitting on the floor rocking back and forth and throwing flour on my head....
of course it is! okay, it's really not. i hate being sensible. i hate it. it's not that we couldn't continue our subscription... i especially like the dvr portion for keeping kids away from unsuitable commercials. if we're even asking 'is it worth it?' we're obviously not using or full money's worth.
i really started to inwardly panic. i admit it. there are precious few real selfish luxuries i allow myself (especially now since i'm allergic to fruit snacks).... you know something that you do purely because you like it and it pertains to no one else.... and old movies is one of them..... one of the main ones in fact. (chocolate milk is the other). 95% of our dvr memory is movies from tcm.
what am i to do without 'word of mouth'?
without the documentaries?
without bob osborne?
without ben mankiewicz?
where am i going to find these movies that are uncommon?
i could pout for days about this. i really could.
so i'm formulating a plan that includes a blockbuster subscription for online movies, a website with free public domain classic movies, and the tcm 'now playing' guide... tcm website.... tcm video clips... tcm list of movies playing and their descriptions....
i still hate being sensible.
i'll let you know when we make the amputation and if i have any withdrawal symptoms.
