spent all day at a giant downtown department store
returned home.. rather tired but very successful.
oh yeah, have to make the pound cake for church event
pre-heat oven
start recipe mixin.
misread recipe 1 lb butter for 1 stick butter
realize mistake about 4 steps in process
correct mistake (great pains taken)
finally get it all looking good. pour in pan.
put in oven.
start timer.
sit down on couch.. finally (it's about 9:30pm)
timer goes off hour later
cake not cooked.
10 minutes more.
cake not cooked.
"what the hey?"
hmmm, i guess cakes don't cook very quickly if you don't set the oven after starting it (old oven. manually lit).
turn the temperature up from 250 to the correct temperature of 325.
wait and check.
wait and check.
finally. it's done.
let it cool and watch "Christmas in Conneticut". (p.s. love barbara stanwyck)
return to kitchen at 12:00 am
remove pound cake from pan.
scrape the bottom half of one half of the pound cake stuck to the pan into the tupperware container with the rest of the mangled and ruined pound cake. (still tastes good)
go to bed determined only to think of the funny aspects and hopefully repeat only the successful portions tomorrow afternoon.
the worst part is. i've made this cake literally dozens of times. i blame it on dehydration. shopping sucks the body of fluids and the brain does not work properly. here are some pictures that are catastrophe-free. except maybe the one where pennie decided she absolutely had to wear polka dots with stripes.
