to whom it may concern. i have made a major decision. scratch that, i'm toying with a major decision. okay, i'm waffling with a major decision; just like the politicians do. i am now spelling 'pennie' with a 'y'. or i'm thinking about it. i can't commit. now i'm like a male politician. why do it? because almost everyone does anyways; it's cute; she won't have to spell her nickname for everyone when she's in school; and i just made the cutest 'penny candy' banner for a church event and i'm going to hang it in her room afterwards. but i do love the 'ie' too. life is hard.
i will post a poll on the sidebar so anyone can agree or disagree and add their 2 cents or '2 pennies'.

Very timely. My mom and I were recently discussing this. She likes the y ending, because like you said, most people spell it that way already. I like the ie because to me it looks "cuter". But I also think Penny looks more mature, so she may prefer that someday. I tried to vote twice; once for my mom and once for me, since by the time she would ever read this your poll would be over, but it only let me vote once. And don't worry, we don't talk about you all the time :) I just think it's funny this is definitely something my mom has thought about.
ReplyDeleteOh and I forgot to say, what a great picture!! I love it!
ReplyDeleteOK what can I say, I am a fan of "ie" names! I like names that are different, not "normal" not "expected"
ReplyDeleteHence the names:
CJ
Carrieann
Jordanann (which was supposed to be one name but got vetoed at the last minute by Gary)
Your mom likes the "ie" ending.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, her name is Penelope, so she can spell the shortened version any way she wants or both ways. That's the best of both worlds.
I also like "ie". Not really sure why, I just do. I love the picture too, what a sweet baby she is.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sarah that it looks cuter spelled with the "ie" and while I am also partial to the "y" for nostalgia reasons...(I always pictured Inspector Gadget's niece to be spelled with a "y" and I'm pretty sure it is) the "ie" ending would be more unique to her. Also, nobody ever spells my name correctly and it hasn't ruined my life....yet.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I voted "y"...don't even try to figure me out.
