our memorial day

memorial day has always been a big deal.  not over the top or elaborate but very important to us to remember the military and our fallen heros. at the very least we can remember. i think i need to do more remembering.  i'm going to have to really stay on top of the moment of silence at 3pm.  it's so easy to speed by it in the business of the day. P doesn't have the benefit of being around active full time military like i did but she does have the benefit of being around reserve military and retired military.  I hope that she will grow up to appreciate the sacrifice it takes to be in the service.  when she's older she'll be watching "taking chance".
in the mean time this is some of what we do.
it always starts the sunday previous with a very patriotic outfit
we add on our relatives to the remembrance.  it's a great family history lesson.
pen, meet your great great grandma.  just kidding.  it's more like,  you have a great great grandmother .
pen and unc (WWII)

free candy hurled from moving vehicles is definitely a perk
